Overview

WAY 1.5Y.KO Mass Comparator

WAY 5Y.KO mass comparators ensure the traceability of mass measurements and verify weights according to the requirements of legal metrology. For this reason, they are an obligatory working tool in calibration laboratories worldwide. The WAY 5Y.KO Manual Mass Comparators series are designed for the calibration of mass standards and weights according to OIML (R-111) recommendations.

What Do the WAY 5Y.KO Mass Comparators Consist of?

These devices are constructed from an electronic module and a precise mechanical measuring system. They are equipped with a weighing chamber in the form of an anti-draft shield. All components of the chamber are made of glass or metal, that is, materials that minimise the influence of electrostatics on the weighing result.

What Does the WAY 5Y.KO Mass Comparator Connect to?

The WAY 5Y.KO comparator has the following communication interfaces: USB-A (2), USB-C, HDMI, Ethernet, Wi-Fi®, Hotspot and optionally the Radwag communication protocol. With these, you will connect to:
  • Smartphone and tablet (Hotspot)
  • Spreadsheet (USB-C)
  • Receipt and label printer (Ethernet, Wi-Fi®, USB-A)
  • Computer and laptop (Ethernet, Wi-Fi®, USB-A)
  • Barcode scanner (USB-A)
  • Additional screen, including projector (HDMI)
  • Software on your PC (RES Radwag Extended SI Module)
  • Keyboard and mouse.

Automatic Adjustment in the WAY 5Y.KO Mass Comparator

The WAY 5Y.KO comparator has internal (automatic) adjustment. Adjustment is a set of activities aimed at bringing a measuring instrument to an operation in accordance with its intended use. In the case of electronic balances and scales, such an operation is the correction of this device sensitivity by comparing the weighing result of the internal adjustment standard with its reference value. The internal adjustment is carried out automatically, i.e. without operator intervention. Such a solution saves time for the user and aims to achieve more accurate measurement results.

Suspended Self-Centring Weighing Pan – What Is It?

Such a pan ensures that the centre of gravity of the test and reference standards is always in the same place. In addition, it allows several weights to be placed off-centre as the resulting reference standard. The suspended self-centring weighing pan is installed at the production stage of the instrument in place of the standard pan, and should therefore be included when ordering the comparator (it is not sold as a separate product).

Terminal 5Y in the WAY Mass Comparator

With the 5Y terminal, the WAY 5Y.KO comparator has gained new features and functionalities, which are:
  • User-friendly menus seen more clearly on the 10’ touch display
  • DWA® (Digital Weighing Auditor)
  • Log-in via password, fingerprint, facial recognition, RFID tags* or a combination of these
  • Ambient Light alerts
  • Hotspot
  • RFID
  • Live Note text and voice memos
  • Voice commands to the device
  • Handy measurement history within the Handy Library
  • Widgets.

How to Eliminate Air-Drafts?

The WAY 1.5Y.KO mass comparator comes as standard with an additional external anti-draft chamber that shields the entire unit. The anti-draft chamber has retractable side windows and a sliding top window to provide unobstructed access to the weighing chamber of the comparator. Even small air-drafts, caused, for example, by ventilation systems, air conditioning or the movement of people in the vicinity, can interfere with measurements. The anti-draft chamber creates an enclosed space that protects against these factors. Its use increases the reliability and improves the repeatability of results in metrology, pharmaceutical and industrial laboratories.
